“A re-elected Liberal government will cut cellphone bills by 25 percent, saving the average Canadian family of four up to $976 a year,” Trudeau explained while speaking in Brampton on Sunday. The Liberal leader also announced a tax cut for families, adding up to $585 for the average middle class family.

Trudeau continues to answer questions about the images of him in costume with his face darkened from 2001 and earlier, which have drawn worldwide condemnation and mockery since they were first reported last week.

“I’ve been reaching out to community leaders, to friends and colleagues, to talk about my actions, to talk about how I move forward, how Canadians can move forward, how this country can do a better job fighting against racism and intolerance altogether,” Trudeau replied.

One of the individuals Trudeau still plans to meet with is NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, after saying he wants to personally apologize to Singh.

“It’s not on me to accept that or on me to forgive him, it’s on Canadians who are impacted by this,” Singh explained, “It’s really got to be about them. No person can act as proxy for all the people who’ve been hurt.”

Singh is the first member of a visible minority to lead a federal party in Canada.

Singh will be in Eastern Canada Monday, as will Green Party Leader Elizabeth May.

Both Trudeau and Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer will be just outside of Toronto today. Scheer plans to call in to Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer after Monday’s noon news.
