The province is calling on the federal government to commit funding support for the planned ‘Ontario Line’ subway, part of the Ford government’s $28.5-billion transportation plan.
Infrastructure Minister Monte McNaughton says the province is calling on the prime minister to ”stop playing politics” with infrastructure funding.
”I’m concerned the prime minister is trying to make a disagreement with Ontario where one doesn’t exist,” said McNaughton.
”I’m concerned (Trudeau) he’s  treating Ontario differently than other provinces in Canada, where similar projects have already gotten quick approval.
I’m concerned Prime Minister Trudeau is picking a fight with our premier because he sees it as politically expedient.”
McNaughton adds instead the prime minister ”should pick up a shovel,” pointing out infrastructure is a shared responsibility.
The ”Ontario Line,” which would run from Ontario Place to the Science Centre, will cost an estimated 11-billion and could be open by 20-27.
