If you’re a regular at the movies it will probably come as no surprise that older Zoomers are practically invisible in mainstream movies.
A new study done at the Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, confirms that out of more than 4,000 speaking roles in the top Hollywood films last year, only 11 per cent involved characters 60-years old or older. Just ten of those roles were considered to be leads. The situation was even worse for older Zoomer women who had only about 25% of the roles over 60.
The research is being presented by at a conference on aging in New York.
