A prestigious African-American college in Atlanta is the latest institution to distance itself from comedian Bill Cosby.
Spelman College is discontinuing a professorship funded by the comedian. The college had provisionally suspended the position when allegations of Cosby drugging women to have sex first emerged. The college is now now returning what remains of the original $20 million endowment. The Cosby family donated the money to the women’s college in 1988 and the endowed professorship was established in the name of Cosby and his wife. Cosby denies any wrongdoing and has not been charged with any crime. But, recently released court documents from a 2005 civil case show he had admitted obtaining sedatives to give to women before sex.
