The high-pressure demands of the 24 – hour news cycle and the rise of social media are changing the way some meteorologists talk about the weather.
And media watchers say the language in weather forecasts can go over the top with terms such as “snowmageddon” and “Frankenstorm.”
Environment Canada’s David Phillips says Canadians love to talk about the weather and while forecasting language can stray too far – sometimes – forceful descriptions have their place.
