A concert featuring the who’s who of current UK music stars has raised almost $20-million at a concert for Ukraine last night in Birmingham.
Among them, Scottish classical violinist Nicola Benedetti who played a soaring solo and then accompanied several actors as they read the moving worlds of Ukrainian refugees.
Pop superstars like Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello were also among the performers.
The event was broadcast live.
Besides the millions raised from public donations, the broadcasters donated an estimated $5-million of ad revenue and another half million was generated by ticket sales.
The funds will go to the Britain’s Disasters Emergency Committee’s humanitarian appeal.
