The largest study ever on the health of Canada’s aging population is out. Among the highlights of this landmark study, 95 percent of those between 45 and 85 report their mental health as excellent, very good or good. But it notes that women are more likely than men to report feeling lonely. Almost half in that age group report they provide some level of care to others.Driving a car is still the most common form of transportation for older Canadians regardless of age, sex, location or health. The report done by the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging followed more than 50 thousand men and women beginning eight years ago and will continue to track them until 2030. While the population is aging, seniors are healthier than any time in history with many saying that 85 is the new 65.
