THANKS-GIVING SONGS
It’s Thanksgiving weekend, and we have much to be thankful for. Sure times are tough and we’ve been through a lot. Just getting through it is something to be – well – thankful for, right? We all love gratitude and appreciation, so this might be a good time to express that to someone. It’s also a good time to reflect – and good music can help us do that.
I’ve gathered a dozen outstanding ‘thanks-giving’ songs from pop, rock and soul, by The Beatles, Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Sly Stone and many others. Some you’ll know right away, and a few you might be surprised by. I’ll also have a birthday salute to our own Robbie Lane and, during the show’s first hour – ‘Our Sunday Best – A Century of #1 Hits‘ – listen for The Mills Brothers, Bobby Darin, Ray Charles and Kelly Clarkson – every song a #1 hit from this week in past years. Plus: ‘The Story Behind the Song‘ ‘Another One Bites the Dust’.
It’ll be a great way to spend some of Sunday afternoon – tuning in to ‘Vintage Favourites’ from 2:00 to 4:30. And I thank YOU for listening to the show – now deep into its 16th year. Have a wonderful (and safe) long holiday weekend.
