This Monday (Feb.21) is Family Day, giving us a nice mid-winter long holiday weekend – and a chance to think about, reconnect with, and perhaps even get together with family members outside our immediate household. I wish you happy thoughts and wonderful reconnections. I’m also getting you in the mood with a special edition of ‘Vintage Favourites‘ featuring the great family acts in pop music history.
You’ll probably think of several famous sibling acts right away, but I bet there are a few I’ll play that you hadn’t expected. 21 songs celebrating the closest of bonds you can have in a group. I’ll cross music genres from pre-rock pop, to rock’n’rollers, crooners and soul sisters. I hope you’ll join our get-together this Sunday.
As for our first hour’s spotlight on ‘This Week in Zoomer Music‘ there’ll be stories of four founders of rock’n’roll: Elvis, Fats, Johnny and Buddy. In fact, our ‘Story Behind the Song‘ tells of Buddy Holly’s first hit – ‘That’ll be the Day’, recorded 65 years ago this week. I’ll play TWO versions including the rarely-heard, non-hit, first version. That’s all this Sunday (Feb.20th) from 2:00 to 4:30.
