Van Morrison is turning 75 – and he surely warrants a birthday salute on Vintage Favourites. I’ll dig back into his early days with the Belfast bar-band named after a horror film ‘Them’, his 1967 evergreen ‘Brown-Eyed Girl’ and some tasty hits and album tracks as well.
This was a monumental week in Beatles’ history – from their first performance as The Quarrymen with George Harrison in their 1958 line-up, to their meetings with Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi – in 3 successive years. They also gave their career’s final concert performance in 1966, and their manager Brian Epstein died.
Other notables we’ll feature: Little Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Papa John Phillips and Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor.
There’ll be a lot of great music on this Sunday’s show – join me – 1:00 to 4:30. Cheers.
