‘It’s Canada Day, Up Canada Way’ – as Stompin’ Tom Connors once sang – and which you’ll hear again on my ‘Canada Day Edition’ of Vintage Favourites this coming Sunday. I’ll bring back some of our country’s most iconic songs and singers for this very special show – from across the decades and the music genres – from big band swing, to country, folk, pop and rock.
And the highlight is a countdown of the Top Ten Canadian hit singles of all time – as ranked by noted arts columnist and author Bob Mersereau in his book: ‘The Top 100 Canadian Singles’. His list was assembled by a ‘blue-ribbon panel of musicians, broadcasters … talent managers, retailers and … collectors’. It’s a terrific list that’ll make you feel great listening on July 1st. So please join me this Sunday for ‘The Canada Day Edition’ of Vintage Favourites at 2:00pm. Cheers – Gene.
