After losing another first round playoff series, Sheldon Keefe has been let go by the Maple Leafs.

Not a surprise given his teams’ records in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

While Keefe had a record of 212 wins in 349 regular season games over parts of five seasons, his teams were 16 and 21 in the post season, making it past the opening round only once.

The search for a replacement’s underway with Craig Berube considered as the top option, having won the Stanley Cup in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues, who beat Boston in 7 games.

Berube played 17-seasons in the NHL including part of the 1991-92 season with the Leafs before being part of the 10-player trade with Calgary which brought Doug Gilmore to Toronto.

Keefe’s dismissal comes the day before team president Brendan Shanahan, general manager Brad Treliving and MLSE CEO Keith Pelley are to speak.
