We’re learning the grandparents, killed in Monday night’s crash east of Toronto along with their three-month-old grandson, were visiting from India.

No names have been released by the provincial police watchdog investigating the deadly collision, however, the Special Investigations Unit says the grandfather was 60 and his wife was 55.

Also in the Nissan Sentra were the baby’s parents; the 33-year-old father and 27-year-old mother from Ajax.

Both were taken to hospital; the mother was treated for serious injuries, however, the SIU says the parents are expected to survive.

The 21-year-old driver of the cargo van, being pursued by police, also died.

A 38-year-old male passenger was treated for serious injuries.

Officials have said the deadly car chase and crash began with a liquor store robbery in Bowmanville.
