A long-lost 12-string acoustic guitar that John Lennon played on “Help” is going to auction and is expected to set a record price.

The guitar was also played by George Harrison on “Norwegian Wood.”

Darren Julien, co-founder and executive director of Julien’s Auctions, says finding this remarkable instrument is like finding a lost Rembrandt or Picasso, and it still looks and plays like a dream.

The 12-string was originally gifted to Gordon Waller, of Peter and Gordon fame, then given to his manager who stored it in an attic and forgot about it.

The sale is expected to set a new record price for a guitar which is currently held by Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain.  His guitar went for just over $6-million.
