It turns out that most of the gold stolen in last year’s $22-million heist at Pearson Airport will likely never be recovered.
Peel police think most of it was melted down in a Toronto area jewelry store. One of accused in the case was identified as a jewelry store owner.
So far police have only recovered six gold bracelets worth about $90-thousand which they believe were made from the gold stolen in what’s being called the largest gold theft in Canadian history
Last week Peel Police announced the arrest of five suspects and laid a total of 19 charges.
Canada-wide warrants have been issued for the arrest of three more suspects. One suspect is in custody in the US.
