The Liberal government has missed a deadline imposed by the judge at the helm of the federal inquiry into Ottawa’s first-and-only use of of the Emergencies Act during the so-called “Freedom Convoy” in 2022.
Justice Paul Rouleau didn’t impose any penalties for missing the deadline, which wasn’t legally binding.
The government was given a year to respond to the inquiry’s findings and 56 recommendations, while providing a timeline for putting them into place.
The public safety minister’s office gave no justification for missing the deadline, only saying it will have more information about the governments response “soon”.
