A Toronto woman is floating the idea of home co-ownership. Social worker-turned-realtor Lesli Gaynor has launched a company called GoCo Solutions to help people get into Toronto’s red-hot real estate market. Gaynor says co-purchasing has financial and social benefits. She says about 30 people took part in her recent speed dating event where they looked into the advantages of combining financial resources to jointly purchase a home. Older buyers can get help with more physical chores like shovelling the driveway whereas young families co-owning a home can share child and pet care responsibilities. Gaynor says the speed-dating idea came about when she was joking with her three sons about how they can now use apps like Tinder to find a date.
