Technical difficulties with the province’s organ donor website may have affected the online registrations of up to 60-thousand donors.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins says some registrations made at Service Ontario’s ”Be A Donor” website – between March last year and the 19th of this month, may have resulted in incomplete or inaccurate records.
People affected will be sent a letter, explaining what happened and telling them how to update their information – to make sure it’s complete and accurate.
Hoskins says the glitch didn’t affect any donations of organs or tissue made by registered individuals – and won’t have an impact on the security of anyone’s information.
The Health Minister says the website was taken down and the technical issue was resolved.
He says the site’s now back up and people can continue to register as organ and tissue donors.
