More than one in 10 people in the province live in a condo and many of them are Zoomers. More than half of the new homes under construction are condos. But there have been numerous complaints about governance. In a couple of cases three men and their associates were accused of hijacking about a dozen high rise condominiums in the GTA and gaining access their multi-million dollar budgets and reserve funds. In most cases, these people did not even own any units. And it can be tough for the owners to get access to the records or even participate in owners’ meeting. Apparently that is set to change. We’ve just learned that the province has unveiled new rules set to take effect this fall. Libby speaks to Lawyer Denise Lash of Lash Condo Law in Toronto.
