Do you recall The Liberal Party’s campaign pledging that it would eliminate the Conservative government’s plan to raise the OAS eligibility age to 67 from 65 by 2029? Well, it appears that the new government is delivering on this promise despite arguments from bureaucrats who claim this change is going against a global trend among other developed countries who are all planning to raise their pension ages to 67 or even higher.

With Canada keeping the Old Age Security eligibility age at 65 there are concerns that this plan would be very costly. According to The Globe and Mail a new, secret government internal policy paper references this promise which directly affects Zoomers and their pensions. How do you feel about keeping the age to receive old age security at 65? Jane Brown speaks with CARP’s VP of Advocacy and COO Wanda Morris who weighs in on this very important issue for Zoomers.
