A VERY DIFFERENT OLYMPIC GAMES

The Tokyo Olympics are set to open officially tomorrow and, as if they were not sufficiently plagued with problems, this morning the director of the opening ceremonies was fired for inappropriate jokes about the Holocaust.

Libby is joined by Canadian Olympian Dr. Jane Thornton and Canada Research Chair in Injury Prevention & Physical Activity for Health at Western University; Dr. Michael Naraine, Assistant Professor, Department of Sport Management, Brock University; and Dr. Alon Vaisman Epidemiologist, Infectious Disease Specialist at the University Health Network to discuss the issues surrounding the Olympic Games amidst a pandemic.

VACCINE PASSPORTS

Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table has come out in favour of vaccine passports. The table published a 21-page brief saying vaccine certificates could be useful in reopening higher-risk settings in the province sooner, places like indoor dining, bars, gyms, and cultural and sports events.

Libby is joined by Dr. Peter Juni, Scientific Director of the province’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table and he says the only way to deal with this is to make a distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated.

BORDER RESTRICTIONS

Yesterday the Liberal government announced that fully vaccinated Americans will be able to come here as of August 9th, but the Biden administration did not reciprocate and we will be barred from the states until at least the 21st.

Libby is joined by Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce; and Mayor Jim Diodati, Mayor of Niagara Falls, Ontario to discuss the business of the border.
