NO MANDATE ON VACCINES INCLUDED IN ONTARIO’S BACK TO SCHOOL PLAN 

Libby Znaimer is joined by Sam Hammond, President of the The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) followed by David Cravit, Vice President, Zoomer Media and Chief Membership Officer at CARP as well as Ryan Imgrund, an educator in York Region, and a bio-statistician who has been providing daily COVID-19 analysis for Ontario and Canada.

Yesterday, the province released it’s back to school plan. Some of the measures included are: staff and students must conduct a self-screen daily before attending classes, students between grades 1 and 12 will have to be masked in indoor spaces with the exception of physical education classes and while eating. One of the more important aspects of this plan is that there is no mandate on vaccinations. Sam reacts to the latest.

REACTION TO NYC’S VACCINE PASSPORT POLICY

In the news: New York City is mandating a vaccine passport policy for indoor dining and indoor show experiences. So, with the largest city in North America following through on a proof of vaccination plan, should Toronto follow suit?

THE CITY’S LEFT TURN CALMING PILOT PROJECT

Libby Znaimer is joined by Barbara Gray, General Manager of the City of Toronto’s Transportation Services.

Toronto has a program it’s implementing called the Left Turn Calming Pilot as part of its road safety strategy. It’s an initiative aimed at curbing the number of left-turn accidents at signalized intersections. It is one of the more prevalent types of collisions in Toronto that have resulted in fatalities and injuries to cyclists and pedestrians. The plan will see speed bumps being added to 8 initial intersections in neighbourhoods of the City. Barbara provides more details.
