REACTION TO JAGMEET SINGH’S ELECTION PROMISE TO END FOR-PROFIT LTC IF ELECTED 

Jane Brown  is joined by Donna Duncan, CEO of the Ontario Long-Term Care Association which represents for-profit nursing homes followed by Dr. Vivian Stamatopoulos,  a professor at Ontario Tech University who specializes in family caregiving and is an advocate for those in long-term care facilities.

This week, on the campaign trail, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh made the promise that he would put an end to for-profit long-term care if he were to be elected. Is this the right approach? We hear from both sides of the argument.

EDUCATORS EXPRESS CONCERN OVER SAFETY OF SCHOOLS AHEAD OF FALL RETURN 

Jane Brown  is joined by Karen Littlewood President of Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), Ryan Imgrund, an educator in York region and a biostatistician who has been providing daily COVID-19 data analysis for Ontario and Canada as well as Dr. Eric Tucker, a law professor with York University who has extensive knowledge of Ontario’s occupational health and safety system.

Ontario Educators are expressing concern about safety ahead of the return to school in the fall especially as confirmed COVID-19 case numbers, fueled by the highly transmissible Delta variant, rise. Meanwhile, we ask the question: what legal rights do teachers and staff in the education sector have in all of this?
