GUINESS RECOGNIZES "CORRIE"

It is official.
The British TV show “Coronation Street” has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest running soap opera in the world.  William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, has been recognized as the  the world’s longest-serving TV soap star.
The program first aired on December 9th, 1960 and was to have run for 13 episodes.
It’s now gone past 10,000 episodes.
Roache who is 88 has been there right from the start.
