The 2020 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the United Nations World Food Programme.
The head of the organization says he was left speechless by the news.
David Beasley told the Associated Press he was shocked and suprised by the announcement which was made early this morning in Oslo, Norway.
The World Food Programme is being honoured for its efforts to combat hunger and food insecurity around the world.
The prize comes with a $1.1 million cash award and a gold medal.
