She was a busy stage and screen actress who specialized in character parts and was guaranteed to steal every scene she was in.
Phyllis Somerville, probably best remembered for playing Marlene, a cranky neighbor to the main character in the “The Big C,” has died.
Over her career she played scores of stage, television and film roles including a cranky bigot in the most recent Broadway adaptation of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Her manager confirms she died yesterday at her home in New York.  No cause was given.
