The day before announcing a plan for re-opening Quebec’s economy, Premier Francois Legault says the government’s proceeding with a plan to start re-opening schools.

It will begin with elementary schools and daycares outside the greater Montreal area May 11 and on the island of Montreal, Laval and in surrounding suburbs May 19.
Legault says it’s for the good of children; especially those with learning disabilities, adding five or six months without school could pose serious, long-term consequences for many children.
”Life must go on,” the premier added.
High schools, universities and colleges won’t reopen until late August.
Provinces are taking different approaches.
Ontario public schools will remain closed through May.
New Brunswick will maintain home learning and is opting to keep schools closed for the rest of the school year.
When Saskatchewan outlined a framework for re-opening its economy last week, it did not mention schools, but they’re unlikely to open soon.
