Senior strategists who work with Premier Doug Ford are said to be worried about a trend that seems to be developing.

Not only was Ford booed at the Toronto Raptors championship rally on Monday, he was also booed at the opening of the Special Olympics at the Metro Convention Centre on May 14th and at the Collision International Technology Conference at the Enercare Centre on May 21st.

The public displays come after seven polls in the past six weeks, which suggest Ford’s popularity is declining in the wake of the April 11th budget that announced numerous program cuts.

Liberal strategist Bob Richardson told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, Ford is in political trouble.

“And they can’t just write it off as downtown elites and martini-sipping people at the Shangri-La Hotel,” Richardson explained,”There were 2-million people out there and there were hundreds of thousands of people for that (Toronto Raptors) presentation. A lot of people dislike what’s going on in Ontario today, and it was very clear.”

And many strategists agree that people will simply stop listening to Ford.

They point to former Ontario NDP Premier Bob Rae, who was jeered at SkyDome after the Toronto Blue Jays won the 1992 World Series. After that, Rae couldn’t catch a break for years.
