There are rumblings of strife in Premier Doug Ford’s caucus which is pointing to an imminent cabinet shuffle.
The Toronto Star is reporting that Ford is deeply concerned about tensions in his office, after a rookie GTA MPP broke down in tears when she was scolded last Thursday by Ford’s chief of staff Dean French in front of the premier, other MPPs and staffers.
The next day, the report says, Ford held a closed door caucus meeting and told MPPs they should be treated with respect. While several aides were in the room, Dean French was not.
Ford also reportedly signaled to his caucus, that he wants a change in tone.
In the midst of all of this, the premier apparently wants a refresh on his year old government with some saying Ford was “disappointed” with how Finance Minister Vic Fedeli’s April 11th budget has rolled out.
Seven public opinion surveys in the past month have highlighted problems for the Progressive Conservative government due to program cuts in the budget.
