How many times has the Ford government said ”promise made, promise kept.”
Well, Doug Ford’s neighbour down University Avenue feels the premier’s broken one in his government’s first budget.
“I’m incredibly disappointed that the province will not be proceeding with the promised gas tax increase that would have provided the city of Toronto alone with $1.1-billion over the next ten years. Starting with millions of dollars expected this year,” said Mayor John Tory.
Much of that would have gone towards upkeep of public transit.
The mayor says the city made its plans based on that promise.
Meanwhile, Tory is pleased to see money in the budget for the recently announced major transit projects, although, as he has said he still has some questions.
