In her first public remarks since resigning as Treasury Board president earlier this month, Jane Philpott says there is ”much more” to the SNC-Lavalin controversy and believes Canadians would like to know ”the whole story.”

Meanwhile, the prime minister insists he did not shuffle Jody Wilson-Raybould over the affair, contradicting Philpott who feels there was ”a reason” for moving her from justice to Veterans Affairs.
During a stop in Mississauga, Justin Trudeau was asked about a January meeting with Philpott before the cabinet shuffle.
Trudeau says they discussed her appointment as Treasury Board president and moving Wilson-Raybould to fill Philpott’s role as Indigenous Services minister.
The prime minister says Philpott asked if that had anything to do with SNC-Lavalin.
He claims he told her it did not and that they then talked about how Philpott could help Wilson-Raybould in her new role.
”It was a good and prositive conversation,” added Trudeau.
Meanwhile, the Conservative ethics critic Peter Kent says both Wilson-Raybould and Philpott are being prevented from speaking freely.
With the Commons justice committee ending its investigation of SNC-Lavalin, Kent says it’s more important than ever for the Liberals to allow the ethics committee to investigate.
That committee meets Tuesday to discuss a Tory motion, that’s calling on the committee to immediately begin investigating and to invite both former cabinet ministers to appear no later than April 5 and be allowed to speak freely.
