An artistic duo that prefers to be known as a singular artist is among the eight winners of the $25,000 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts.
Yvon Cozic and Monic Brassard, who prefer to be known simply as “Cozic,” are from Sainte-Anne-de-la-Rochelle, Quebec and are one of one of several recipients of a Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award. As a result, the two will share a single cheque.
Others being recognized for their body of work include Toronto-based multimedia artists Andrew James Paterson and Stephen Andrews and Newfoundland environmental artist Marlene Creates.
