Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of strong winds for the City of Toronto and the GTA.
The weather office says strong southwesterly winds with gusts up to 80 km/h are expected to develop this afternoon and continue into this evening, then gradually weaken overnight.
Gusts of 80 k/ph can bring down branches and impact hydro wires, which could lead to power outages and injuries or property damage.
The weather office also says this passing weather system will herald a new round of cooler temperatures and that could mean flurries later in the week.
