The city of Toronto’s executive committee is recommending that council approve a budget that would see residential property taxes rise by 2.1 percent – in keeping with inflation.
Council has the final say – at a meeting that starts Monday.
Meanwhile, city staff say they won’t report the updated cost of the one-stop Scarborough subway extension until after the election in October.
There are no council meetings after July.
Mayor John Tory won’t commit to making the new number public – before the election.
The cost is expected to be higher – than the current $3.35-billion dollars.
