The day after learning last Friday’s hijab attack in Scarborough never happened, turns out the story of a newborn abandoned today outside at a plaza at Keele and Lawrence, was also made up.

Police were initially told a couple found the baby outside in a covered walkway of the plaza, placed the baby in a hoodie and took him to a nearby home before calling 9-1-1.

Hours later it was determined that’s not what happened.

A police source says investigators learned the mother had kept her pregnancy a secret, gave birth alone inside a home on Redberry Parkway, and made up the rest.

The newborn remains in hospital in critical condition.

The mother is also receiving medical care.
