A collection of letters written by Swedish actress Greta Garbo gives a glimpse into the solitary life led by one Hollywood’s most enigmatic stars.
The 36 letters, were written in the 1930’s and 40’s and depict a lonely and isolated woman who remained a mysterious figure until her death in 1990 at the age of 84.
The collection goes to auction at Sotheby’s in London next Tuesday with an estimated value of about $27,000.  However, in 2012, an auction of Garbo’s belongings saw lots fetch more than 10 times the pre-sale estimates.
