If your Zoomer memory extends back to Milton Berle’s “Texaco Star Theater” in the 1950’s, you may remember Ken Shapiro who played “the kid.”
The former child actor and director of the 1974 movie “The Groove Tube,” has died of cancer at the age of 75.
“The Groove Tube,” starred Shapiro and Chevy Chase and satirized television and 1970’s counterculture.  It predated “Saturday Night Live” by a year.
Shapiro retired from Hollywood after directing the 1981 movie “Modern Problems” about an air traffic controller also played by Chase.
Ken Shapiro was 75.
