Incidents of doorings in Toronto, where a suddenly opened car door impacts a passing cyclist, are on the increase; from 132 in Toronto in 2014, to 175 in 2015 and more than 2 hundred last year.
TDSB trustee and Board of Health member Chris Glover has been a victim and he wants changes to the laws governing doorings so that drivers are held accountable for their passengers.

At the moment drivers face fines and demerit points if convicted of dooring but drivers are not responsible for their passengers.

Toronto’s Public Works Committee is to discuss a motion from the Board of Health on doorings at its meeting tomorrow.
