Ontario has appointed its first chief scientist.

She is Molly Shoichet – whose job will be to advance science and innovation in the province – and provide research and evidence to help inform decisions by government.

Shoichet will also advise Premier Kathleen Wynne directly – on key scientific matters.

The University of Toronto professor is an internationally respected and award-winning expert in the study of polymers – for drug delivery and tissue regeneration.
