The Duke of Edinburgh is attending his final official royal event today before retiring from public engagements.
Phillip announced in May he would be stepping back after more than 65 years supporting the Queen and attending events for his own charities and organizations.
And even though he is known for being constantly at the Queen’s side, the 96-year-old is also known for his gaffes and quips. He’s been joking over the past few months about retirement, telling those at an event at Buckingham Palace that he’s discovering what it’s like to be on your last legs.
Philip meets today with a group of Royal Marines who’ve just completed a 17-hundred kilometre fund raising trek.
