  • Shania Twain is warning nature lovers to seek treatment immediately – if they think they’ve been bitten by a tick.
The Canadian country music superstar has recently released the single ”Life’s About to Get Good” – and has revealed the she’s battling complications from Lyme disease – as a result of a tick bite over 10 years ago.
Twain says there’s ”a very short window to catch it and then treat it.”
The 51-year-old notes that Lyme is a ”debilitating disease” that ”you can’t play around with.”
She says she saw a tick fall off her.. in Virginia – during her 2003-04 ”Up!” tour – and she recalls becoming dizzy in the ensuing days – and nearly falling off stage every night while performing.
The five-time Grammy award winner was subsequently diagnosed with Lyme disease – a bacteria carried by ticks that leads to flu-like symptoms and can spread throughout the body.
For Timmins-born Twain it resulted in a vocal cord disorder that eventually left her unable to sing for a while – and forced her to undergo extensive speech therapy and vocal training.
Twain is one of several celebrities who have spoken out about their experiences with Lyme disease, including fellow-Canadian Avril Lavigne, actor Alec Baldwin and former US President George W. Bush.
