Legislation designed to reform ticket buying and resale will be unveiled Monday.
The reforms follow an outcry from fans shut out of buying tickets last year to the Tragically Hip’s farewell tour.
The province sought public feedback earlier this year on how to craft legislation, including how to shut out ”scalper bots,” that scoop up big blocks of tickets that immediately appear on resale sites at much higher prices.
Of 34,700 who responded to the Wynne government’s online survey, 89% said ticket-buying software should be illegal and the same percentage said there should be a cap on ticket resale mark-ups.
A similar number also said a ticket’s original face value should be displayed by secondary sellers and on resale sites.
