The Public Service Alliance of Canada’s reached a tentative agreement with Ottawa for about 68,000 of its 170,000 members.
The deal covers those civil servants in the programs and administrative services group – the largest represented by PSAC.
Under the agreement, sick leave entitlement would remain unchanged.
The union also says it’s worked out a better, more fair process when it comes to future layoffs and re-structuring.
A working group on mental health will be created and family leave will be enhanced and workers will also see their salaries rise by at least 5.5% over four years, plus a $650 signing bonus.

In a statement, national president Robyn Benson says, ”A deal for our largest group, as well as agreements on key common issues, is a significant victory.”
