Canada has not addressed dementia even though other countries have implemented national strategies.

That’s the view of the chair of the Senate committee on social affairs, science and technology, who feels the Trudeau government should provide $30-million-a-year to properly fund a plan pulling together governments, health groups and patients.

Senator Kelvin Ogilvie also wants strings attached to $3-billion Ottawa promised for home care the next four years.
The committee, which began its study in February, says it’s heard from witnesses and examined programs to identify gaps for patients, caregivers and clinicians.
