President Barack Obama says it`s no secret he and President-elect Donald Trump have ”some pretty significant differences.”
But Obama adds that’s being set aside for the sake of the country.
”We are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading the country.
Obama says he congratulated Trump early Wednesday morning following his election win and invited him to the White House Thursday to begin discussing the transition of power.
Shortly before the president spoke, Hillary Clinton said in her concession speech to supporters in New York, while it`s not the outcome they were hoping for, the effort was not about her but the country they love.
”We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought.  But I still believe in America and I always will, and if you do, then we must accept this result and then look to the future.  Donald Trump is going to be our president.  We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.”
Clinton says she knows the ”highest and hardest glass ceiling” has not been shattered, but ”someday, someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think.”
