Rod Stewart wore tartan trousers and a scarlet trimmed military style tunic when he was knighted at Buckingham Palace.
The 71-year-old raspy-voiced singer said of meeting the Duke of Cambridge, ”We talked about music and he said: ‘It’s great that you’re still going,’ and I said: ‘I have to – I’ve got eight children!”’
Sir Rod, who was accompanied by his wife and two youngest children, says he was ”on cloud nine,” but wished his parents could have lived to see him receive the knighthood.
Other musicians who’ve been knighted include Sir Paul McCartney in 1997, Sir Elton John in 1998, Sir Mick Jagger 2003 and Sir Tom Jones 2006.
