Academy award winner Emma Thompson is back from a trip to Nunavut where she lent her celebrity to help the local Inuit in their opposition to seismic testing in the ocean they depend upon for food.

The 57 year old British Actress, who stars in the Nanny McPhee movies, is supporting the people of Clyde River in their appeal of the National Energy Board’s approval of an extensive program of offshore seismic tests in the Davis Strait and Baffin Bay.

Last June, the National Energy Board approved five years of seismic tests to help map the sea floor and the geology underneath.

The Supreme Court of Canada is expected to hear the appeal in November.
