3′ 8″ actor Kenny Baker, the man inside the Star Wars droid R2-D2, has died in England at the age of 81.

Baker’s nephew and minder Drew Myerscough cared for the actor after he developed developed respiratory problems nine years ago and called him just a regular guy

Star Wars creator George Lucas paid tribute to a “real gentleman” and Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, said he had lost “a lifelong friend.”
