Toronto is facing a significant increase in homicides, in particular those involving guns.
TO Cops
So far this year, Toronto police have investigated 40 murders; an increase of more than 40% over last year at this time.  The number of killings involving firearms has more than doubled this year over last.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders told a public consultation meeting in Rexdale last night that his officers are working hard to combat the problem saying they are making arrests and taking guns off the street.

The police service has five more public consultations scheduled before the end of the year covering everything from crime prevention to police budgets and training.
