It was one year ago today that the Union-Pearson Express went into service and then ran almost empty while Metrolinx figured out the fare was too high.
However, spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins says once fares dropped from almost $30 to $12 per ride, ridership improved measurably. Ridership is up to approximately 8,000 a day through the week, about four times higher than the the ridership last fall.
